ASHLAND CO., OH – A 71-year-old man died, and one person went to the hospital after an SUV and a bus collided along a highway in south-central Ashland County.
The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. on OH-39 near Township Road 749, which is between Perrysville and Loudonville.
The investigation indicates that a Chevy Equinox and a 2011 Thomas Built bus carrying four passengers collided on the highway, at which point the bus landed in a ditch.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as Rickie Bilger, died after transport to a local hospital.
Medics transported one person from the bus to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
