Narrative
COLUMBUS, OH – A 34-year-old woman died, and two other people went to the hospital Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash at a busy Columbus intersection.
The accident occurred just before 1 a.m. at Woodland Avenue and East 17th Avenue, which is just north of Eastlawn Burial Park.
Police say the crash involved a Ford and a Buick. The northbound Ford neglected to heed a red light and entered the path of the eastbound Buick. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The driver that allegedly caused the accident became entrapped in her vehicle and required extrication. Medics transported her to an area hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the collision. Authorities identified the victim as Markeesha Waddell.
A passenger in the Ford went to the hospital with critical injuries, while the other driver was transported in stable condition.
A full investigation is underway.
