Narrative
SPRINGFIELD, OH – One child died, and 23 others were hospitalized Tuesday after a Clark County crash involving a school bus and a minivan along a state highway.
The incident happened around 8:16 a.m. in the area of 4100 Troy Road, which is near German Township and just west of Ballentine Pike.
A preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound 2010 Honda Odyssey minivan veered into the path of the school bus in the westbound lane. The bus travelled into the shoulder, but the two vehicles still collided. The bus then overturned, ejecting one of the students. That student died in the accident.
Twenty-three of the fifty-two students on the bus went to the hospital with injuries from the accident. The bus driver did not require hospitalization.
The driver of the Honda and his passenger sustained non-critical injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
