HURON CO., OH – The Ohio State Patrol is investigating a fatal head-on crash involving three vehicles that took place on US 20 in Townsend Township late Wednesday morning.
According to Crawford County Now, the deadly crash took place near mile marker 23 at about 11:30 AM on April 19, when a 2003 Chevrolet pickup traveling eastbound drifted into the westbound lanes, sideswiped a 2020 Volvo semi, and collided head-on with a 2020 Hino semi. The crash sent the Hino down an embankment on the right side of the road. The Volvo came to a rest on the north edge of the roadway, with the pickup in the middle.
While emergency responders freed the pickup’s driver from the wreckage, they pronounced him dead at the scene. He has been identified as Bryan J. Anable, a 45-year-old resident of Mansfield. Mr. Anable was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
His passenger, William L. Worcester, a 46-year-old from Plymouth, was also unrestrained. He was taken by Metro LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious injuries.
The 56-year-old driver of the Volvo was unhurt, while the Hino’s 70-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries.
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire District, North Central EMS, Citizen’s EMS, Metro LifeFlight, the Ohio Department of Transpiration, The Huron County Coroner’s Office, Huron County Emergency Management Agency joined the OSP in responding to the crash.
