Narrative
DEFIANCE, OH – A man from Hicksville was killed in a suspected DUI crash involving a semi-truck just west of Defiance on Monday morning.
The collision occurred when the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze, 21-year-old Brayan Cabanzo-Cano, lost control of the vehicle in the westbound lanes of US-24 near Baltimore Road. The Cruze struck a semi-truck head-on, causing both vehicles to veer off the side of the roadway.
Following the collision, emergency medical services transported Cabanzo-Cano to a local medical facility in Defiance via ambulance. He was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Toledo by air ambulance. His passenger, 24-year-old Jose M. Carrillo-Cabanzo, was pronounced dead at the crash site.
It is unclear whether the truck’s driver suffered any injuries in the crash.
