MASSILLON, OH – A 51-year-old woman died Sunday evening when a vehicle struck her as she attempted to cross the highway in Massillon.
The incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on the eastbound side of SR-172 near Lennox Avenue Southwest, which is just southwest of Sippo Lake and the Stark County Park District – Public Safety.
Police say that an eastbound, white 2006 Ford E-250 van struck the pedestrian as she attempted to cross SR-172.
Medics transported the woman, identified as Stacy Antill, to a local hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing. Police have not yet ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
